World Cup 2014: Rise of the Machines

Not actually a machine, goal line technology is intended to be capable of detecting whether or not a goal is scored better than any human. Not so fast. The matchup of France vs Honduras will not go down without some controversy. Let's look past the fact that Wilson Palacios drew two yellow cards, that yellow + yellow somehow = red, and the Palacios was sent off in the first half given France a one man advantage. Let's look past the fact that scoring first, and off a penalty, has lead teams to lose. France broke all the rules today. In the 45th minute Karim Benzema scored a penalty kick to give Les Bleus a 1-0 lead. Just three minutes into the second half, the ball rolled across the face of the Honduran goal, bounced off of Honduran keeper Noel Valladares, who seemed to reach back and pull the goal out just before it completely crossed the line, when goal line technology dubbed it a goal. If it was over, it was over by a blade of grass width. Could our eyes be deceiving us? Or did it go in. It was all a moot point as up two goals and one man, France went on to take a 3-0 victory off another Karim Benzema goal.
