Colombia was already guaranteed a trip to the second round. They still had to battle against Japan who needed to take care of business, or they were going home. Things weren't looking good when in the 17th minute Juan Cuadrado converted a penalty to give Colombia a 1-0 lead. Just at the break, Japan would score via Shinji Okazaki, and the game was tied. Japan looked to try to take their destiny in their own hands, but Jackson Martinez would score two in the 55th and 82nd minutes. And for good measure James Rodriguez would score a fourth to give Colombia the win, first in the group, a perfect 9 points, and a matchup in the second round with Group D runners up Uruguay.

Cote D'Ivoire and Greece had everything to play for. Given the Japan lost, all Cote D'Ivoire needed was a draw. Greece could settle for nothing less than a win. The Ivorians looked more likely to score in the early going, but Greece held together defensively and went ahead in the 42nd minute on a Andreas Samaris goal. The Elephants would fight back in the 74th minute when Wilfried Bony scored. Things were go Cote D'Ivoire's way until the closing moments when a penalty in the box allowed Georgios Samaras a chance to win the game. He converted his penalty kick, and just like that Cote D'Ivoire are out of the World Cup. Greece face Group D winners Costa Rica in the 2nd round.

Today's player of the day Ferrarius scored 3 points, one a bonus, to move back into fourth place with two days to go. Congratulations contestant. Niko Kovac is no longer with us. So, here instead is your Georgios Samaras goal celebration.
