In the opener of the day, powerhouse Argentina was set to demolish Iran. The Honor of Persia had different plans. Not only did they stymy Argentina and Superstar Lionel Messi, they arguably were denied a penalty kick that could have given them the lead. For 90 minutes both teams battled back and forth, when finally, Messi scored the necessary goal that Argentina needed in extra time. As a result, Argentina worked hard but have their six points that see them through to the knockout rounds. Iran sit with one point, but they're not entirely out of this one yet. Today, they made Persia proud.
The middle match saw Germany face Ghana in a slobber knocker. Germany took control of the match in the 51st minute via Mario Goetze. Three minutes later Ghana responded when Andre Ayew scored. In the 63rd minute Ghana jumped ahead with Asamoah Gyan's goal. Germany looked nervous when substitute Miroslav Klose entered the fray. Klose was born in Poland but opted to play for Germany when they recruited him. It caused quite a stir, more so when you consider that he entered this tournament one goal behind Ronaldo for most goals scored over an entire World Cup Career. In the 71st minute Klose scored a back post knock in to give Germany the draw and earn his 15th goal across all World Cups tying Ronaldo. If he can muster up a single goal in the remainder of the tournament, he'll be the sole leader of World Cup Goals. The draw gives Germany 4 points, currently first in the group, and Ghana 1 with a chance to still advance given the outcome of tomorrow's USA and Portugal game.

The final match of the evening saw Nigeria tackle Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nigeria had one point, still looking to face Argentina, while Bosnia and Herzegovina were without a point. Both needed a win, and badly. Bosnia and Herzegovina scored a goal that the linesman erroneously ruled offside. Nigeria fired back scoring a goal on a play that did involve a Nigerian fouling a Bosnian player. No call was given, and the goal stood. Peter Odemwingie got the goal and drove the Super Eagles past the Dragons, though it was a cagey ending. Nigeria's 4 points go a long way to gaining them a knockout round ticket. Tied on points with Argentina, and still to face them, a difficult road remains for them. Bosnia and Herzegovina are eliminated from the tournament, but could help both Argentina and Nigeria by putting Iran to bed.

A solid performance by Scriptor saw the contestant move out of last place. A gutsy call for a 2-2 draw between Germany and Ghana. Equally impressive was Praeceptor's three point, one bonus performance calling for Nigeria's 1-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina. This move saw her reclaim solo first place. As a result, contestant Praeceptor is today's player of the day. Here is your Niko Kovac smile...
