Off His Marquinhos

 

Croatia are known for their checkerboard kits and penchant for taking games to penalty kicks. Brazil are know for Neymar and the beautiful game. Brazil needed to break the curse of exiting at the Quarter-finals in the 3 of the last 4 World Cups. Croatia was committed to making it hard for Brazil. Scoring didn't start until the 105th minute when Neymar looked to have put Brazil through to the Semis. Not to be outdone, Bruno Petkovic tied the game in the 117th minute. It would take penalties to find a winner. 

Nikola Vlasic, Lovro Majer, Luka Modric, and Mislav Orsic would all score for Croatia. Rodrygo Silva would see his first shot saved by Dominik Livakovic. Casemiro and Pedro would score to give Brazil hope. Marcos Marquinhos would step up and find the left post to miss his penalty and send Croatia into the Semi-finals. Brazilians everywhere were heartbroken. Neymar never even got the opportunity to take his penalty shot. The cameras focus on his tears as he misses out another World Cup Championship. Have no fear, Brazil will be back.
