Kylian Off Poland

 

France entered their Round of 16 match back at full strength, and heavily chosen as the favorites. Poland were in their first match outside of the group stage since 1986. There was only one way this match was going to go, but it took a while to get there. The first half was a bit nervy as both teams made forays forward with no success in scoring. But then Olivier Giroud found the back of the net in the 44th minute to give France the lead going into the half. The second half started to move France's way even more. Though Poland would press on and have chances to find a goal, they just couldn't deliver. With tired legs they were helpless as a turnover led to Kylian Mbappe's goal in the 74th minute. At the 90th minute mark, Mbappe would put away his second to put France up 3-0. A handball in the closing moments, and a penalty kick by Robert Lewandowski that had to be retaken because the goalie came off the line early, gave Poland 1 goal. Poland head home, while France rumble on.
