Welsh goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey came out of the box and lifted his leg high to challenge for the ball. At first, he received a yellow card. VAR had the referee take another look and that's when the decision was made to show a red card instead. Danny Ward came in to take over goalkeeping duties, and Wales would look shaky. As the match went into extra time Rouzbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Rezaeian scored for Iran to give them a 2-0 victory.
