Win, Lose, and Draws

9/16 of the way through the World Cup and the double double headers began. Uruguay set right the footballing world holding hosts Russia to a 3:0 defeat. At the same time, Mohamed Salah was trying to end Egypt's World Cup on a high note by getting their first win ever at the tournament. Saudi Arabia had other plans and won 2:1. As Group B ended we were treated to 2 draws. Iran would find themselves trailing for most of the match, saved by a bad Ronaldo penalty kick. They would strike late and get the 1:1 draw. Spain would fall behind Morocco, fight back, fall behind and earn the draw before the final whistle. Uruguay battles Portugal and Spain gets Russia in the next round.

Portugal's draw has earned Historicus and extra point. Artifex loses her pairing as Egypt exit the tournament. To give her a fair chance moving forward, she'll be performing a substitution. Since Uruguay officially eliminated Egypt, she will ride La Albiceleste for the rest of the tournament. Every Uruguayan win gets her 3 points. A win or loss on penalties is worth 1 point for her. Onto the scores.

Today's Disciplinary Official is Essam Elhadary. Egypt's goalkeeper started the game becoming the oldest player to ever play at the World Cup at 45 years of age.
He's defeated. He's tired. He just wants to go home. He's not holding the goalpost up there. It's the other way around. And you never know, in 4 years he might be back breaking his own record. No cards, no fouls.
