Scottish Goalkeeper Czechs Out

10/51 of the way through the Euros. Today’s first match-up saw Scotland host the Czech Republic. Scotland were favored to win since they were hosting this match, and should have at least managed a tie. Patrik Schick would have none of it scoring once three minutes before half, and again seven minutes after half. The first goal was assisted by Vladimir Coufal, while the second made Scottish keeper David Marshall look foolish. A chip from distance caught Marshall running back towards goal and jumping in vain while ending up tangled in the netting. The Czechs surprised Europe and have grabbed three points and top spot in the group. Scotland lick their wounds at the bottom of the group looking ahead to their match with England.

Polish Keeper Has Slovakian Shoulder

The second match of the day saw Poland heavily favored to win against Slovakia, but in a performance far too common, Robert Lewandowski was not to be a factor. The scoring opened up when Robert Mak’s shot would slip past Wojciech Szczesny, hit the post, ricochet of Szczesny’s shoulder, and into the goal. The first half finished 1-0. In the second, Poland would start to come back when Maciej Rybus would find Karol Linetty for the goal. The Grzegorz Krzychowiak would earn his second yellow card, receiving a red and having to leave the game. Down to ten men, Slovakia would take advantage and score a second goal when Milan Skriniar would head Marek Hamsik’s corner in the 69th minute. Poland would chase the game but fail to find another goal. Poland falls to last in the group as Slovakia find first.

Drawing, How Swede it is.

The night cap of the day saw Spain host Sweden. Though this Spanish side is considered to be weakened with experienced players out of the team, they were still expected to push aside the Swedes. Spain sent a barrage of shots at the Swedish goal, seventeen in total. The Swedes worked hard in defense and Robin Olsen made five saves to keep Spain off the scoreboard. The draw sees both teams sitting in a battle for second place. Quaesitor chose Sweden as his Euro Buddy, and they earned him fourteen points.

Today’s Player of the day with seven points is Musicus. He was the best of a bad bunch as we had the lowest scoring day of the tournament so far. He finds himself back in second place. Tomorrow the first matchday ends as Portugal face Hungary, and France battle Sweden. Everyone will finally have had one game with their Euro Buddy, and the tournament will start to take shape.

Sleep well my Crias.
