21/52nds of the World Cup
France continue their journey to reach their 3rd straight World Cup Final, and win their 2nd trophy in 3 attempts. Kylian Mbappe has some extra interests in this tournament. He trails only Ronaldo, Miroslav Klose, and Lionel Messi for number of World Cup Goals. France's 3-1 victory over Norway left them feeling pretty well on easy street. Their opponents Iraq looked to shake off the rust of a 1-4 loss to Norway. Unfortunately for the Lions of Mesopotamia, they wouldn't have what it takes to bother France. Instead,Kylian Mbappe would start both halves of the match with a goal on either side, in the 14th and 54th minutes. Ousmane Dembele with tally on a 3rd goal to give France the victory and build on their superior goal differential. The victory assures France a spot in the Round of 32, leaving Iraq last in the group with 0 points. Iraq potentially can move on to the next round, but will need a big victory over Senegal to have a shot at one of the 8 best 3rd place teams. Kylian Mbappe now sits two goals behind Lionel Messi for the career record in World Cup Goals.
